Blanco orejinegro (BON):


Raza predominante de la región cafetera de clima medio. Color del pelaje blanco y con orejas negras; piel y mucosas bien pigmentadas los hace tolerantes a la radiación solar y a los ectoparásitos como el nuche y la garrapata. Temperamento dócil, gran fortaleza y habilidad para camianar en terrenos escarpados. En ausencia del ternero la vaca BON inhibe la bajada de la leche y acorta el periodo de lactancia lo que podría interpretarse como excelente habilidad materna; sus híbridos con 50 y 75% de herencia Holstein sobrepasa la produccion media del BON en 68 y 85% respectivamente. Posee además excelente habilidad combinatoria con Cebu para producir híbridos con excelentes características cárnicas.
